The Jet Wednesday Knockout Cup entered the Semi Final stage this week, 12th July. PSL Ain’t Going Down were hosted by Court Gimme A Break and were certainly hoping that their recent league form that has seen them rise up the league table, stood them in good stead for this crunch semi-final match. All hope of this happening though quickly evaporated when, by the end of the first session, Gimme ABreak were 4-1 up. PSL didn’t fare any better in the second session with Gimme A Break repeating the same score-line of the first session. While Rob Mills and Kris Lord took 2 frames overall for PSL, Carl Watkins sealed the comfortablewin for Gimme A Break in the 10th frame.
The featured YouTube Live-stream match for the second semi-final of the Jet Wednesday Knockout Cup saw Parkway take on Court Snapbacks at home. Parkway’s John Roe put the home team ahead in the first frame of the match however, that was as good as it got for Parkway. The Snapbacks took the next 8 frames in a row with Sean Hackettsealing the straightforward win in the 9th frame with a ‘break & dish’. **Court Snapbacks now take on Court Gimme A Break in the Jet Wednesday Knockout Cup Final on 23rd August – this will be a Featured You-tube Live-Stream match** The Stanground Carpets & Flooring Thursday League, 13th July, had the featured YouTube Live-stream match between Court Posties and Quinns Muppets. This was a relatively close match with the Muppets just shading each of the first two sessions 3-2 a-piece. Moving in to the final session, Darren Hope and Ryan Reed took a frame each for the Posties to tie the match nicely at 6-6. With the both teams then taking a frame each, the match went in to a deciding final frame with Len Donnelly securing the win for QuinnsMuppets and seeing them move up a spot in the table to 4th but with no change for the Posties still in 7th. Court By The Cops hosted the PSL Lions and with the Lions rooted to the foot of the table and the Cops one place above, this had the potential to be a close match and, by the end of the second session the Lions were still in touch with the match being only 6-4 down. The Cops however decided to stamp their authority on the match in the final session taking the next 4 frames in a row and securing a comfortable win in the end for the Cops, with Stephen Edgley taking the final consolation frame for the Lions leaving no change in table position for either but, with the Cops putting more daylight between themselves and the Lions. Top of the table Court Gold took on the Heron Warlordsand Gold did their league status no harm at all with this relatively comfortable win over the Warlords. With Gold winning all 3 sessions including a ‘break and dish’ both from Ben Bushby and Sam Boome, Gold have placed even more daylight between themselves at the top of the table and their nearest rivals however, this match also saw the Warlords slip two places to 6th. Court Larking About have retained 3rd spot in the table despite being defeated playing away at the Bluebell R Backteam which also saw the latter, climb a spot in to 5th. Bluebell were 6-4 up by the end of the second session which also included a ‘break & dish’ by Larking About’s Ben Prowen. Bluebell then heaped further misery on the Court team by taking 4 frames out of the last 5, including a ‘break & dish’ by Bluebell’s Luke Watkins, leaving Bluebell in a very tight mid-table chasing pack.
