'PSL Lions roar on to their first win of the season!’
With just 3 matches to go before the SCF Thursday League comes to a close, the PSL Lions finally grabbed their first victory of the season when visiting Bluebell R Back tonight, 31st August. On paper this should have been a relatively comfortable win for the Bluebell team given table positions etc however, Pool can be a ‘funny ole game’….sometimes. The Lions took the first session 3-2 to then go and repeat that same score-line in the second session too although, Shane Wood did ‘break & dish’ to make it 4-3 down to Bluebell at one point – Bluebell now knew they had a match on their hands. Luke McShane and Shane Wood for Bluebell then took the first 2 frames in the final session to square the match up with only 3 frames left to play. Martin Edgley gave the advantage back to the Lions only then for Danny May to step up and once again, square the match up with only the deciding frame left to battle out. Trevor Ware for the Bluebell team went up against Dave Clark for the Lions and it was the latter who gave the Lions a very well deserved first win, seeing them still at the foot of the table but certainly happy in the knowledge that their determination and perseverance has finally paid off. Bluebell R Back now currently reside comfortably in mid-table. Final Score: Bluebell R Back 7 - 8 PSL Lions The featured YouTube Live-stream match this week, saw an all Court affair between Larking About and By The Cops and the former almost took the win within the first 8 frames in a row but, at 7-0 up, Grahame Moulds and Mick Thorpe for the Cops then stepped up to halt the slide for the Cops with 2 in a row of their own – was a fight-back on the cards? Sadly no because, Ivan Knight for Larking About took the 10th frame and with it the win for his team and, with Larking About then also taking 4 out of the last 5 frames in the final session, this proved to be a very comfortable win in the end leaving Larking About sitting comfortably in 3rd spot in the table with the Cops, down in 7th. Final Score: Court Larking About 12 – 3 Court By The Cops No further matches to report on due to postponements – reports on these will appear as and when they are rescheduled. here to edit.
