The Jet Wednesday league, 14th June, saw normal league matches resume after last week’s knockout cup. The featured YouTube Live-feed match saw Court Jesters and Court Kids go head to head and the Jesters certainly ceased their opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table. With the match already won by the 10th frame with Andy Bunton securing victory, the Kids then came back in the final session with wins from Ivan Knight and Ryan Anderson but it was too little too late, and the Jesters had a very comfortable win under their belts, increasing the daylight between themselves and second place.
PSL Aint Going Down were at home to Court At The Bar and this was looking like a very assured win was on the cards for PSL as, by the 8th frame, they were 7-1 up, with James Bennett taking the solitary frame for Court At The Bar. However, with Lisa Fitter, Michael Harrison and Steve Owlett then taking 3 frames in a row for the Court team, it was suddenly looking like PSL had a fight on their hands. It then kicked in again for PSL with Kris Lord securing the match in the all important 12th frame, and while they still remain bottom of the table, it’s much closer now between the bottom 3 teams. Parkway were at home to Court Gimme A Break. By the end of the 2nd session, Gimme a Break were a convincing 7-3 up. With Parkway’s James Harford then taking the 11th frame and the match to 7-4, Gimme A Break then kicked back in with Liz Disney taking the 12th, and with it, the win. John Roe and Gareth Mears took a frame apiece as a consolation for Parkway however, this win for Gimme A Break now increases the gap between them in 3rd and Parkway in 4th, in the table. Court Snapbacks played away at the Postie Pats and, with the Snapbacks in second place in the table, a win was vital over the Posties so as not to lose further ground on the top team. The Snapbacks took the first two session’s 3-2 on each occasion setting themselves up nicely for the 3rd and final session. The win was confirmed with Liam Ayres, Sam Boome and Jamie Stokes taking 3 in a row for the Snapbacks and with Martyn Allen for the Posties taking a final session consolation frame, it was win secured for the Snapbacks. The Stanground Carpets & Flooring Thursday League, 15th June, saw the featured YouTube Live-feed match between Court By The Cops And Court Larking About. At 7-3 to Larking About by the end of the second session, it was always going to be a tall order for the Cops to take the next 5 in a row without reply to secure the win for themselves. And so it proved, with Craig Harbisher taking a solitary single frame for the Cops, and leaving Larking About with a convincing win, and still within touching distance of second place in the table. A mid-table clash between Heron Warlord’s and Crosskeys Silver, saw Crosskeys storm in to a unbeatable 10 frame lead after Ian Lea took the first frame for the Warlord’s. But even with a final session win for the Warlords with Liz Disney, Gareth Mears, Graham Tilley taking a frame each, Crosskeys got the win they needed to see them secure second place in the table. Court Posties still managed to hang on to 3rd spot in the table despite a heavy defeat by Court Gold. With the Posties being only 4-3 down it wasn’t looking too bad for them however, with Gold taking the next 7 in a row, the match was suddenly out of sight for the Posties. Even with a last frame consolation for Kev Boon for the Posties, Gold have now extended their considerable lead at the top of the table. PSL Lions took on Bluebell R Back on home turf. It was 7-3 up to Bluebell by the end of the second session and, with Martin Edgley then taking frame no. 11 for the Lions, any thoughts of a comeback were quickly extinguished when Luke Watkins secured the match for Bluebell seeing them move up the table but with the Lions still firmly rooted to the bottom.
